12:06 a.m. - October 19, 2004 We have a whole bunch of new trainees that were hired to close. This does not make any sence to me, since there are so many people already trained to close and also want the hours, but I don't have any say in the matter. Anyway, we hired this one guy named Chris, along with about 10 other people whose names all start with a "C" or a "K" and all start with "Chris...". One of my duties as a supervisor is to train people, which is no big deal since I've been training people for some time now before I even got the promotion, perticularly on Backline. Backline is a slighly involved process, because you are not only taking care of the close, but also making the food and have a number of distractions. Back to Chris. First off, he's a bit odd and very strange. I know he's trying to make work fun, but when he spends a half hour talking back to me in a fake southern accent then to a cheap John Wayn, it tends to grind on ones nerve. I think he thought it was funny, but I was ready to kill him by the end of the night. I don't think he took anything I said serious and when we go to cleaning the slicer, he was joking around. Not good, especially when you're being trainned to do something, and the slicer costs a couple thousand dollars, not to mention if you are not careful can do some harm to hands/fingers. Christy, even told him to shape up and pay attention. His response, Nazi salute to both of us. He was lucky there was no one in the store at the time, but that could have been offencive to a customer. After a stressful close, I was glad to get out of there. Tomorrow, I'm sure Garette will talk to him and I know I have a few things to say to him about his behavior. I honestly felt like I was waisting my time and that nothing was getting through to him. I also felt like he was being disrespectful to not only me, but also the rest of the crew. But I will worry about that tomorrow, right now, I'm going to get some sleep. ~*~Dream Dancer~*~
