New changes and evil Sundays at work
It has been a while since my last entry but I'm doing well.

A few changes will be taking place in my life very soon. I will be starting a new job this Tuesday. It will be with the local 4H office but through the Americorp program. The irony of it, I 'just moved' from Moscow in May and was offered the job in August.

This also means that I am not going to Texas. I'm sad that I did not take the job, seeing as that's all I've been able to talk about since January, but the pay was not enough to make it worth while.

I don't really know what I'll be getting into with the 4H program. All I do know is I'll start right awawy with fair stuff. The county fair is the second week of September so there will be a lot to do in a very very short time.

In the mean time, I've been working as many hours as possible at Arby's until my next paycheck comes in the middle of September. It has been on intersting last couple of weeks.

Last Sunday was a great example. I should first start off by saying that Sundays are usually jinks. I don't know how many Sundays I've worked as a 'pee-on' were something has not broken, caught on fire, had people call in sick and so on. I might also add, it is nearly impossible to get anyoone to come in and cover a shift for people who do call in.

With that being said, last week was pretty bad by Sunday standards, if there are any. It started off by getting a call at 8:05 AM with Katy, one of my openers, saying she was going to be late. However, I didn't know she had traied with Matt. Ok, so no big deal except Matt was in Boise and was now scheduled close.

Finding out this bit of news, I was bit worried but didn't think anything about. An hour later though, I get a call from Matt, in Boise, saying his flight had been cancled and he could not get a flight in until 5 pm, the time he is to be at work.

Because of the companies rules, their has to be a member of management or an incharge supervisor in the store at all time. There are only 5 people in the store currently who are under this catagory. Katy and myself, Nick, Matt (in Boise), Brian and Caleb, not county Jimmy.

Anyway, Katie and I are currently at work, Brian is at church, Caleb and Jimmy are both in overtime and neither have a scheduled day off until the following week. This leaves Nick. I call him, and ask him if he could close. He is heading out the door for church himself and said he would call back later. Ok, I'm fine with that.

Moving on, lunch comes late (12:30) and then a man in the lobby starts to chock. I get ready to call 911 but then he is fine. After this the toaster stops working. No big deal, I dig out our old 'antique' toaster.

By now, it is 2:30, Matt is still in Boise, and Nick calls back. I ask him if he could close and he asks why. I explain the situation to him and propose a plan to split the close with him. He says "ok" then I went to confirm with Katy and say "Ok Nick, I'll see you at 7:30-8:00 tonight". His reply: "What? Wait, you want me to close? Well, I can't."

Out of everything that had happened last Sunday, that was the icing on the cake. His refusal to help when it is his job. In the end, I called Caleb and he came in. He was not happy about working on his only day off all week.

It was an intersting and frustarting day. The rest of this last week has just been stressful because I've stayed late almost everyday for one thing or another.

Today, I littereally did not move from the same spot all day. I feel physically beat up. Right now I'm sitting infront of the TV, with my laptop and relaxing before going to bed to face another long day.

It are weeks like this, that I wonder what a "Big Person" job is like? will I feel this tired at the end of each day? I guess I will find out in a few weeks time.

Next week, between ending one job and starting another, I need to go apartment hunting. I found two places for less then $400 and in Moscow, that is a big deal. I do know I'm not looking forward to moving back up there. I'm sick of that town but what am I to do?

That is about all for now. Maybe by my next entry, I'll know more about my new job and I'll have a new hair cut. A "Big Person" job deserves a new do :)
