7:16 p.m. - 22 September 2007 I started my new job two weeks ago. So far I've successfully managed to work the copy machine and log-on to my work computer. Other then that, I have no freaking idea what I'm suppose to do! Last week was fair week so i did a lot of fair stuff but that really is not my job. I was suppose to be spending that time networking with community members that I'm suppose to be working with. However, I spent the fair time checking in projects and judging 4H record books, which the books are a total joke! More on that later. Besides that, I was in the office most of the time away from the people I was suppose to be meeting. So I think the fair thing was a total bust. Back to the record books. Once upon a time, when I was in 4H, your project books had you answer questions like "what did you learn?" "How do you tell the difference between A vs B?" or something along that line. This applied to all of the project books I did, whether it was livestock or cooking or whatever. Anyway, all the animal books this year, whether they are livestock or pet cat project, all have the same information in them. They don't ask if the 4H member learned anything they just want to know if the club member can keep financial records of their animals. For a livestock project, the financial part is important because you want to know if the amount of feed you put into the animal is less then what you make when you sell the animal. What is the profit margin? Is there any profet? For your pet cat, who cares. you know you are stuck with the animal for the length of its natural life, and you know there will be expenses with it. But what the pet cat prject books wanted to know was how much money you are putting into your cat, not what you learned in the prject. I guess you would have to see the project books to fully understand what I'm talking about. One thing that was 'funny' about the fair though came from past 4H members. A group of us were talking about the different projects we had been part of and record books. We all had the same complaint about the books and having to hand write our answers. However, with the new technology age, club members can pull their books off line and fill them out. We all agreed that that was cheating! Ah well...things change with time. Go or bad. Needless to say, the last two weeks have not been that productive as to what I will be doing. This past week (Sept 17-Sept 21) I worked three days, well...2 1/2 days. Friday we closed the office at 2:30 and Monday the office was closed to recover from the fair. So all I did thie week was make four phone calls to set up appointments for next week. I also skimmed through 4H project books to get ideas for programs to run afterschool. So it was a very dull week. I hope next week is better. Today, Saturday the 22, I got a late birthday present and I have to say it was the BEST present EVER!! I got a carebear and 4 My Little Ponies, 3 of the classic ones. It was great! I love My Little Ponies! They were some of my first best friends. ^_^ One thing I have learned over the past three weeks of not working a fast pase job is that I can't stand sitting still for so long with nothing to do! I so use to working everyday and having my days off spread out that having an actual weekend is a foreign concept. What this all means: I'm going insain! I don't know what to do with myself. I'm not suppose to be working two jobs, but I'm going to keep working only on Sundays for few hours to give me something to do. Next week the Science Center will be open at their new location and all fair stuff will be finished so I will be back doing that. Hopefully my weekends will be full again because right now, sleeping in and doing house work every weekend is not that fun. Anyway, that is what I've been doing lately. I do hope that my job picks up soon so I have something to do! ~*~Dream Dancer~*~
