Living in My Geek Bubble
I've been living in a happy little 'Geek Bubble' for a while now. It all started when I saw Star Trek this summer. I have to say, I was surprised at the movie and really enjoyed it. It might have to come home with me when it is avaible.

To that same extent, all the geeky movie trailers were shown (Harry Potter, Transformers, GI Joe, Terminator and I'm sure one more...) but since then I've been living in my geek bubble.

Searching the internet for all of my favorit animes and discovering some new ones along the way. I blam YouTube for most of this. I SHAKE ME FIST AT YOU! *shakeshake*

^_^* yeah...

Anyway...my parents have been cleaning out my room slowly since I've moved to Orlando and sending me books and movies I left behind. After all, I was not planning to be here for two years...so in the last box came my secerat anime collection from home. I also aquired a library card and the Orange County Library system has a pretty fair anime collection to check out as well.

Now, either I'm more intune with the story lines now or so caught up in my bubble that I'm seeing things I never saw before when I first watched some of these shows. Also, some feels for the characters have not changed, even if I have not watched a perticular series for some time.

For example; my parents sent me Gundam Wing. I still think it is pretty cool but I hate, HATED Releena and Lady Une the first time I watched it. I STILL don't like them. They only time they are some-what cool is at the end of Endless Waltz when they slap the little girl (well, Releena does anyway). Other then that...blah.

I've also been watching Cowboy BeBop too. Amazing story and music but the characters just seem so much better some how! Also, did anyone notice the amount of product placement in that series?? Another bit of random stuff I have picked up on my re-watching. Never noticed that before. O.O

Moving past the anime, I was bit sad at the last Harry Potter film. So much information is placed in the book and so much was left out. I also wish a bit more time was spent with young Tom Riddle. I have talked to a few people who are familar with the books and they could follow along but they also felt something was missing. I just hope the rumored two film-book 7 is not a let down. But seeing Mrs. Weasly fighting Belextrix will be worth the wait!

Saddly though, my Geek Bubble was popped a time or two when I thought about all the crazy summers at Arby's and how the store would close then everyone would drive over to Pullman or down to Lewiston to catch a mid-night showing of some film. Ah...those were the good days when life was simple and you could use the excuse of "I'm a college kid" for everything.

Now, out of school and working (sort of), it just does not have the same feel.

Yes, I'm working two jobs here in Orlando and getting my butt kicked the whole way. My job with Disney is a catch 22. It is the job I want, but there are certain things I do not care for and because of the organization have no control over. On the flip side, I know that once I put my time, other places will see that be more interested in me as a valuible canidate. But I don't get paid enough and I have a feeling my already slim hoursing are going to be cut back some more.

To fill in the gaps and pay off my larger expenses (rent, car, bills), I work at Starbucks. Yes, I know it has been in the news a lot lately, but I work at one of the busiest stores in Central Flordia. We have any where between 850-1200 people per day walking through out doors. That is a lot and a remodel will be happening soon too. EEK! That will be a challenge.

So, within my little geek bubble and working, I'm keeping myself entertained. I have found the Orlando Science Center and they are hiring people and I applied with them. Wish me luck! I also applied to work in Vet Clinic. The applications were do last week so I am hoping to get a call back with in a the next few weeks.

One more thing to add: It is 2009, I started this in 1999. Ten years for an on-line journal. Wow.
